2025 Paul W. Magnabosco Outstanding Local Section Award
David Schwerbel grew up in Stevens Point, WI and earned a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1973.
Following graduation, he served as an environmental engineer in the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource’s Industrial Wastewater Section.
Schwerbel began a long career in consulting engineering firms, largely dedicated to the Pulp and Paper Industry, in 1978 when he joined Marathon Engineering as an environmental engineer. Subsequently, he served as a co-founder and President of Vertex Consulting Engineers, Vice President of Baisch Engineering for Business Development, Director of Business Development at Jacobs, CEO of Rouman & Associates and Director of Business Development at Larson Engineering.
Schwerbel’s career expanded to providing engineering services to the bio-fuels and agricultural markets, although his focus remained in pulp and paper.
In his present position as the Principal of Telos-US, Schwebel provides consulting services related to strategic planning, business development, project management and business affairs.
Lake States TAPPI provided an opportunity to support the industry and the next generation of papermakers by serving as a member of the board and the executive committee since 1998 and as treasurer since 2015.
Schwerbel’s family includes his wife, Kathleen, and three adult sons: Steven, Brinton and John.
