The TAPPI/PIMA Student Summit is an annual event designed for students interested in the pulp, paper, packaging and allied industries. It offers direct interaction with industry leaders as well as the opportunity to gain valuable information about employment and career development within their field.

This unique hands-on introductory level workshop will give you the knowledge and confidence to master the basic concepts in pulp and paper manufacturing. You will be provided with a broad overview of Pulping, Bleaching, Chemical Recovery, Recycling, Papermaking and Converting. The course will consist of presentations each morning followed by hands-on laboratory and pilot-plant exercises every afternoon.

This introductory course is designed to help you build confidence and knowledge of overall paper machine operations. Gain an understanding of the mechanical components and operations of the paper machine that affect the structure and quality of paper, learn to identify design and operation features, and discover methods to improve paper machine efficiency and product quality.

This combination has proven to be a highly effective and enjoyable way to gain fundamental knowledge of the industrial papermaking process. Class size is limited to 16 for this course to provide ample opportunities for questions and discussion during classroom sessions and hands-on experiences on the paper machine.
