This two-day course provides an overview of common paper making additives used in the industry today.

This two-day class features morning classroom sessions followed by afternoon sessions of guided hands-on exercises using the UW-Stevens Point Fourdrinier pilot paper machine and testing the resulting paper. This combination has proven to be a highly effective and enjoyable way to gain fundamental knowledge of the industrial papermaking process. Class size is limited to 16 for this course to provide ample opportunities for questions and discussion during classroom sessions and hands-on experiences on the paper machine.

Co-located with TAPPICon 2025 | TAPPI's Tissue 101: Properties and Processes Course is structured to provide participants with a solid understanding of tissue properties and how they are impacted by manufacturing processes, helping them to effectively achieve production goals and objectives.

TAPPI, The Paper Science and Engineering School, and The Business School at North Carolina State University bring to you the Basic Financial Training & Strategic Market Analysis Workshop for the Pulp and Paper Industry. This three-day workshop will give you basic and sophisticated tools to analyze and evaluate the effect of capital investment in your operations, global dynamics affecting the pulp and paper industry, evaluate business operations (profitability, cost absorption), estimate financial outcomes (investment return) and support decision-making across the whole pulp and paper operation.

This hands-on analytical introductory workshop is appropriate for technical and non-technical individuals with a desire for training in sustainability and life cycle analysis (LCA) to assess and compare the environmental impact of alternative products. The course will provide the basic background and theory of environmental life cycle analysis and sustainability through lectures. Moreover, instructors will teach and train participants in an open-sourced software to conduct environmental analysis.

This training explores the converting processes of rolled products and how the quality and variability of tissue parent jumbo reels and soft rolls impact the runnability of these complex lines.

This introductory course will provide attendees with a strong foundation in wet end chemistry troubleshooting and optimization best practices. New topics this year include injection systems, process control, biological control and enzymes. The course is designed to help improve product quality, increase machine productivity and reduce costs.

It is designed for those working in paper converting, coatings, printing, plastic films, and packaging, especially in flexible packaging. The content will be particularly beneficial to engineers, technicians, chemists, scientists, sales representatives, and customer service representatives. Representatives of companies that supply papers, paperboards, adhesives, inks, polymers, plastic films, and aluminum foils will also find this curriculum very useful. Participants will spend the morning in lecture and the afternoon in a hands-on lab experience on state-of-the-art equipment. Lunch and morning refreshments will be included on both days.
